Chevrolet HID Headlight Bulb Replacement Guide

This guide only covers Chevrolet vehicles that left the factory with HID low-beam headlights. In almost all Chevrolet factory HID applications listed here, earlier models use D1S and later refresh models use D3S, with later Silverado factory HID applications using D5S. Common D1S cross-reference numbers include Philips 85410, Osram 66144, GM 19369521, 19351942, 25911883, 13503430 and 13503387; common D3S numbers include Philips 42302 and 42403, Osram 66340, GM 13587843 and 13503432. Always confirm by checking the bulb code on the original capsule before ordering.

  • Camaro — 5th gen (2011–2013 SS / ZL1 / RS package HID) — D1S; 2014 transition year — D1S or D3S (read off bulb); 5th gen refresh / 6th gen (2015–2017) — D3S
  • Corvette — C6 (2005–2013) — D1S; C7 (2014–2017 with projector HID) — D3S 
  • Cruze — 2nd gen (2016 factory HID) — D3S

Is my 2014 Camaro SS D1S or D3S?

2014 is the transition year, so it must be checked manually. Early 2014 factory HID setups may use D1S, while later 2014 applications commonly use D3S. Pull the bulb and read the printed code before ordering.

My C6 Corvette flickers — is it a D1S?

Yes. Factory HID-equipped C6 Corvette models use D1S. If one side is flickering or colour-shifted, replace the bulbs as a pair for the closest colour match.

Did the Tahoe or Suburban ever come with D5S?

No. In this guide, Tahoe and Suburban factory HID applications stay on D3S. Chevrolet D5S factory HID fitment appears on later Silverado applications instead.

2017 Impala LTZ — D3S or LED?

Factory HID-equipped 2017 Impala LTZ and Premier models use D3S. Confirm by checking the bulb base if your car has already had headlight work done.

Can I swap D1S into a 2015 Malibu LTZ?

No. The 2014+ Malibu HID setup uses D3S, not D1S, and the ballast system is different.
