Lexus HID Headlight Bulb Replacement Guide

Lexus led mainstream adoption of the mercury-free D4S and D4R bulb families — most Lexus HID headlights from 2007 onward use D4S in projector housings (Toyota/Lexus OE 90981-20024; Philips 42402, Osram 66440) or D4R in reflector housings (Toyota/Lexus OE 90981-20025; Philips 42406, Osram 66450). Older D2S-era Lexus models from the late 1990s through mid-2000s use D2S (Toyota/Lexus OE 90981-20013; Philips 85122, Osram 66240). D4-series bulbs are mercury-free and run on different ballast characteristics than D2S — they are not interchangeable without replacing the matched ballast. Always check the D-code printed on your existing capsule before ordering.
