Honda HID Bulb Guide — D2S Replacement for Odyssey, S2000, Legend

Honda HID Bulb Replacement Guide

Honda fitted factory HID headlamps sparingly — reserved for flagship trims on select models. All confirmed Honda factory HID systems use D2S (Honda OE 33116-SL0-003 for Odyssey; 33116-ST7-003 for S2000; Osram 66240, Philips 85122). Many Honda models sold alongside these in the same years — including the Accord, Civic Si, CR-V, and Pilot — used halogen headlamps in Canada; factory HID was not offered on those trims. This guide covers factory HID-equipped models only. Always confirm the D-code stamped on your existing capsule before ordering.

Factory HID Models (Honda)

Odyssey
Fourth generation (2011–2017 Touring Elite) — D2S projector HID low-beam, standard on Touring Elite trim. Lower trims (EX-L, Touring) in the same years used halogen. Note: the 2018+ Odyssey moved to halogen and LED headlamps — no factory HID was offered on the fifth generation.

S2000
All years (2000–2009) — D2S projector HID low-beam standard. This includes the rare CR edition (2008–2009). The S2000 is one of the few Honda models to offer factory HID across its entire production run.

Legend
Third generation (2005–2012, sold in Canada as the Legend KB1/KB2) — D2S projector HID low-beam standard. This generation was sold in Canada in limited numbers; the same platform was sold in the United States as the Acura RL (2005–2012), which also uses D2S. If you are looking for parts in Canada, the D2S capsule is the same for both the Legend and Acura RL.

Honda HID Headlight FAQs

Does my Honda Accord or Civic Si have factory HID?
No — the Accord (7th, 8th, and 9th generation), Civic Si, CR-V (4th generation), and Pilot (2nd generation) all used halogen headlamps in Canada. Factory HID was not offered on these trims in the Canadian market. If your car has HID-style light output, a previous owner may have installed an aftermarket HID kit into the halogen housing — this is a different system and does not use a D-series bulb.

My 2018+ Odyssey headlight is out — does it use D2S?
No — the fifth generation Odyssey (2018+) uses halogen or LED headlamps. Only the fourth generation (2011–2017 Touring Elite) used factory D2S HID. If you have a 2018+ Odyssey, call us at 647‑547‑1962 and we can identify the correct bulb for your trim.

I have an Acura RL — is it the same D2S bulb as the Honda Legend?
Yes — the Acura RL (2005–2012) and Honda Legend KB1/KB2 share the same platform and the same D2S headlamp capsule. If you are shopping for a replacement bulb for an Acura RL in Canada, the same D2S bulb applies.

What does D2S mean, and can I use a D1S or D3S instead?
D2S has an external igniter (built into the ballast, not the bulb) and is not interchangeable with D1S or D3S, which have integrated igniters. Always match the exact D-code to your original system. The code is stamped on the base of your existing capsule.

Not sure which bulb your Honda needs?
Check the code stamped on the base of your existing capsule. If you cannot access it, send us your VIN or call 647‑547‑1962 and we will confirm the correct type before you order.
