Dodge HID Headlight Bulb Guide — D1S, D3S Replacement for Challenger, Charger, Dart, Durango, Viper & Sprinter

Dodge factory HID headlamps follow the same LX/LD platform shift as Chrysler — pre-2011 HID models use D1S (Mopar 68021228AA; Osram 66144, Philips 85410), while 2011 and later LD-platform models and the refreshed Challenger (2015+) use D3S (Mopar 68321525AA; Osram 66340, Philips 42302). The Viper and Dodge-badged Sprinter sit outside the LX/LD family but follow the same generational pattern. Many Dodge models in the same years used halogen headlamps; this guide covers factory HID-equipped trims only. Always confirm the D-code stamped on your existing capsule before ordering.

Factory HID Models (Dodge)

Challenger
LC (2008–2014 SRT8 / R/T with factory HID) — D1S projector HID low-beam. Lower trims used halogen in the same years.
LA refresh (2015–2021 SRT / Hellcat / R/T Scat Pack with factory HID) — D3S projector HID low-beam. The 2015 refresh moved from D1S to D3S; lower trims continued with halogen.

Charger
LX (2006–2010 SRT8 / R/T with factory HID) — D1S projector HID low-beam. Lower trims used halogen in the same years.
LD (2011–2023 SRT8 / R/T / Scat Pack with factory HID) — D3S projector HID low-beam throughout the full LD run. The Charger moved to D3S with the 2011 platform launch; there was no D1S generation of the LD Charger. Lower trims used halogen in the same years.

Dart
PF (2013–2016 GT / Limited with factory HID) — D3S projector HID low-beam on upper trims only. Base Aero and SE trims used halogen (9012) headlamps — confirm by checking for a ballast module behind the headlamp housing before ordering.

Durango
WD (2011–2013 Citadel / R/T with factory HID) — D1S projector HID low-beam. Lower trims used halogen in the same years.
WD refresh (2014–2021 Citadel / SRT with factory HID) — D3S projector HID low-beam. The 2014 refresh moved from D1S to D3S.

Viper

Sprinter (Dodge-badged)

Dodge HID Headlight FAQs

My 2015 Charger has HID — D1S or D3S?
D3S. The Charger moved to the LD platform in 2011 and uses D3S throughout the full LD run (2011–2023). There was no D1S generation of the LD Charger — if you have a 2011 or newer Charger with factory HID, it is D3S.

Are the Challenger Hellcat headlights HID?
Yes — the Challenger Hellcat (2015+) uses D3S in the projector low-beam, the same as all other HID-equipped LA Challengers from 2015 onward.

My 2013 Durango — D1S or D3S?
D1S. The 2013 is the final D1S year for the Durango — the 2014 refresh moved to D3S. If you are unsure, pull the existing capsule and read the code stamped on the base.

Is the Dodge Sprinter D1S the same as a Mercedes Sprinter?
Yes — the 2007–2009 Dodge-badged Sprinter is a Mercedes-Benz NCV3 platform vehicle. The HID headlamp assembly and D1S capsule are identical to the Mercedes Sprinter of the same years.

Does the Dodge Dart have factory HID?
Yes, but only on upper trims — the GT and Limited used D3S projector HID, while the Aero and SE used halogen 9012 bulbs. The two headlamp systems look similar from the outside; confirm by checking for a ballast module behind the housing.

Not sure which bulb your Dodge needs?
The bulb code is stamped on the base of the capsule. If you cannot access it easily, send us your VIN or call 647‑547‑1962 and we will confirm the correct type before you order.
